-nymphs occur in ditches, bayous and semipermanent lakes and ponds on muddy bottoms (Abbott 2005); nymphs in still or slow moving water (Orr, Honig & Behrstock 1999)

-in Needham & Westfall (1955) the nymphs of G. maxwelli and G. militaris have been transposed (Westfall 1974 pers. com. in Bayer 1975)
